Colombian film Thursdays
continue!!!
Throughout 2018, the Embassy of Colombia in Indonesia will hold a series of screenings of popular Colombian films including the Academy Awards nominee for best foreign movie “Embrace of the Serpent”, “Gabo: the creation of Gabriel Garcia Marquez” and more. The screenings will be held once a month at the Embassy’s auditorium and will be open to public and free of charge.
On this opportunity we will be screening “When the guns go silent” a documentary about the peace process between the Colombian Government and the FARC Guerrillas directed by Natalia Orozco.
How to conclude a war? How to win
peace? After half a century of armed struggle, after three failed peace
processes, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), the most
notorious rebel group of the country, and the Colombian government have finally
reached a historical peace settlement. The signature of a peace agreement in
September 2016 cleared the path to national reconciliation and to the FARC's
participation in the political arena. While the negotiations were somehow
progressing, Natalia Orozco managed to have access and establish communication
with the rebels’ and the government’s negotiation teams.
Due to limited seating please
remember to book your seat in advance. We look forward to seeing you there.
