Dear Jakarta Language Enthusiasts,
Have you ever heard about an area called Caucasus?
This location, along with the Ural Mountains, is the natural border that divides Europe and Asia.
Do you know that in this area, lies two countries that have been around since ancient time?
One of the is Armenia, or Hayastan in their native tongue.
The people of the current-day Republic of Armenia can trace back their origin up until Bronze Age, living around the mountains of Ararat.
Armenian language, or hayeren, is so unique to the region to the point that it does not has any living language relative and their alphabet has not evolved much since their first introduction in 5th century by Saint Mesrop Mashtots.
In the fourth Polyglot Indonesia Jakarta Chapter's Around the World meetup series, we would like to invite you to learn more about Armenian culture!
In collaboration with the Embassy of Armenia, we will also learn simple and useful Armenian language phrases and words!
