Thriving Through Uncertainty: Resources and Adaptation for Businesses

Dear Apiary Community,

The COVID-19 Pandemic has impacted countless businesses of various sizes and industries around the world. As we are obliged to stay in the isolation of our homes, many businesses close and those who are still open usually run out of customers. As a business owner, you may be overwhelmed with questions like how do you pay your employees and fixed costs when there is zero income, what do you do with suppliers and inventory, until when can you survive? On top of maintaining your business to prevent bankruptcy, you still need to take care of your family's health and survival. Worse of all, no one knows when this crisis will end.

During these uncertain times, it is important to make fast, informed decisions without being overwhelmed with panic and anxiety. With Design Thinking (also known as human-centered design), we can carefully break down our problems into small, manageable problems and come up with solutions with the use of empathy, brainstorming, prototyping, testing and other techniques. Design thinking has been used by the most successful companies such as Google, Apple, Gojek, Grab and Airbnb to transform their companies.

This session will be facilitated by Ron Lal of Momentum Mind Lab NZ, a practitioner and business mentor specialized in Design thinking for over 6 years, where he will teach us:
